The renovation of an 1880’s estate in Baltimore’s horse country includes a complete renovation of a historic residence, the conversion of a tenant structure into a guest house, the conversion of a barn into studio space, and a new pool and pool house. The client’s desire for intimate family settings as well as large formal spaces for entertaining resulted in a top-to-bottom reorganization, and a modest addition, while preserving the original character of the house and the balance between structure and garden.
